From garden to home

An Invitation

Each piece is made to be lived with - foliage picked up on a walk, flowers gathered from the garden, seed pods brought inside or a visit to the local florist. An invitation to slow down, to notice, and to arrange something simple and beautiful by hand. Through these small acts, the vases become a way to honour nature’s beauty and our instinct to gather, place, and appreciate.

About Joia Ellery

My work is made slowly, by hand. Over time, my process has become more intuitive, leaning toward hand-building - carving each surface, embracing imperfection, and letting the material guide the outcome. Working with clay gives me a way to quiet the mental noise and drop into a deep, grounded focus. I love its versatility, its rawness, and its ability to hold both beauty and utility.

How do I care for my ceramic piece?

Care Instructions

Vases, Vessels & Bowls:

Remove flowers before they wilt or begin to rot. Wash the interior thoroughly with hot, soapy water. If residue or staining occurs, soak with cleaning vinegar for 10 minutes, then add bicarb soda and rinse well. For tougher build-up, swish a small amount of hydrogen peroxide inside, let sit for 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. You may wish to use a long brush/straw brush to assist in cleaning.

Tableware:

For best longevity, hand wash only. Avoid leaving tea or other liquids in cups for extended periods to prevent staining. If mild staining occurs, clean gently with a mix of bicarb and vinegar.
